Unconventional Halloween Ghosts

image

Ghosts take all sorts of forms. Here are some ghosts that will haunt your home delightfully...

First, there's the Joy Candle Lamp. Old-fashioned tapers set slightly dramatically askew. 10.5" high, 10.5" deep. ($165)

The Reveal Light is truly different. Using a projection lamp, it casts a diffused silhouette of leafy trees against a window. If this wasn't clever enough, the interior fan makes the branches of the trees sway as if the were being jostled by a gentle wind. The lamp can stand on a table, be mounted on the wall or ceiling, and it can rotate so that the image is bent to just about any angle. The effect can be either charming or spooky. Your choice. ($450)

Just about everyone who knows modern takes on classic forms is familiar with Philippe Starck's Victoria Ghost ($330) chair and Louis Ghost chair ($410). Made from transparent polycarbonate, the forms are old friends in new clothes. Very elegant (and stackable).

Even a clock can have a ghost. This fanciful clock allows you to see the working, chrome mechanisms, and overlays them with an artistic, etched facsimile of familiar wallclock elements: scrollwork, Roman numerals. 14.75" tall, 10" wide, 3.25" deep. ($125)

Lastly we have the Ghost Candalabra ($65). Made of Lucite (a material very familiar to devotees of vintage purses and other wonderful stuffs), it stands 12.5" high and 10" wide, with four cups for tapers. Wonderfully classic, with a modern edge. Could it get much better? Yes -- it folds flat for storage.
