Pottery Barn Thinks It’s Never Too Early for Halloween

I just got the latest catalog from Pottery Barn, and tucked in at the end was an early look at PB's Halloween offerings for this year. Some nice, spooky goods after the jump...

I hope that this is just a taste of what's to come this season. I think the standout so far is the metal bone stand and punchbowl set. Just the thing to use if you're breaking out your cask of Amontillado (that's an Edgar Allan Poe reference, for those who are not yet fans of the man). $29 .

I also really like the look and idea of these skeleton plates. I'm fascinated by comparative anatomy. When I'm in a great hall of a museum where giant sauropods are displayed, their immense, spiny bellows of their ribcages remind me of the flying buttresses of medieval cathedrals. Throw evolution in, and I'm hooked. So, I really love the idea of these very graphic plates, the white skeletons against a backdrop of inky black. My one disappointment is that out of a set of four designs, two are ape skeletons, which seems a waste, considering the delectable variety of skeletal forms from which to choose. Love the bat skeleton. I can't quite make out what the fourth one is, as it's hidden by the bat plate in the photo. $29 for the set of four. Also visible in the photo are the silver vampire place card holders ($20 for four).

To go with the bone punchbowl stand, you can also get these bone candleholders ($19, for one)...

And, 'tho the glitter is not quite to my taste, these skull votives would work well for either Halloween or something Pirate-themed ($19, set of four)...

In fact, it's quite the skull theme this year at Pottery Barn. Skull votives, skull candles, skull-shaped candles ($19), skull drink trays ($24), skull appetizer picks ($24), skull drink shakers ($19)...

If you want to really splurge ('tho I think these are are overpriced), you can nab the spidery-looking candelabra ($59), the 12-foot high (yes -- 12 feet high! ) black and white haunted house mural ($199, assuming you've got ceiling height and wallet width to support it), and the seven-foot tall (yes -- seven feet! )Halloween glitter tree ($129, looking delightfully desolate)...

Pottery Barn thinks it's never too early for Halloween. And neither do I.
