FABULOUS BOOK BARGAIN ALERT! - Kyoto Costume Institute

image

There are alot of fashion books in my library. Books on antique costume. Books on modern designers. And there are always a lot of vintage clothing books on my "to get" list.

I was browsing Amazon, and I clicked on one of the Kyoto Costume Institute titles, as one of these volumes has been on my "to get" list for a while, and one of these titles had come up in conversation recently.

Imagine my stunned, stunned surprise (is that redundant? It doesn't seem so) when, as I was reading through the Amazon reviews, I realized that this particular item had something extra-special about it...

Imagine my stunned, stunned surprise (is that redundant? It doesn't seem so) when, as I was reading through the Amazon reviews, I realized that this particular item had something extra-special about it...

What is it?

It's not just one, fabulous book from the Kyoto Costume Institute, it's two.

Each volume clocks in at over 300 pages -- 720 total between two volumes.

And the price for this treasure? $32.99.

Get it, while the gettin is good. Fashion a History from the 18th to 20th Century: The Collection of the Kyoto Costume Institute (Taschen 25th Anniversary Editions) (Hardcover)

Thanks for the tip on these two volumes at Amazon but when I went there, Amazon only had vol. 1 for $29.99

Hey Art smile

Sorry they didn't have both. I didn't get there in time either, ironically.

I did, however, purchase the single volume version, and I cannot believe how staggeringly beautiful it is. That is such an outstanding collection, and well-photographed.

I also used the photographs for sketching purposes...for a while I was doing a sketch-a-day of costume pictures from within the book. So it's a purchase that keeps on giving. smile

cheers smile VG
