2008 Annual Edward Goreyfest and Auction

It's that time of year, kids (or should I say, Gashlycrumb Tinies) -- we're in countdown mode for this year's Annual Edward Goreyfest and Auction.
Just like every year, the folks who take care of Edward Gorey's legacy in Yarmouth Port, MA (where Gorey made his home for many years) will be auctioning off Gorey items. Some are limited edition prints of his work, and some are items from his personal collection (like this year's 1850 print of L'Arche du Pont Notre-Dame by Charles Meryon, which so, so clearly shows what inspired E.G.; two of his fur coats, and even some of his rings). There'll be a live auction as well as a Web-based one.
Alison Lurie, Pulitzer Prize winning author and life long Gorey-friend, will be 2008's special guest and speaker.
Event is Saturday, October 4 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Yarmouth Community Center.

A small taste of Goreyfest follows...
