Description: Great, smashing boudoir robe. You just couldn't get any more "boudior" than this. It has all the hallmarks of the period's emerging fascination for making the bedroom a temple of female taste and sensuousness — deep, rich colors (fuschia velvet and peach satin lining); thick silk-rayon quilted velvet; a medium, aristocratic weight; luxurious, glamorous details like the square, lucite buttons with the gold fillagree work at the center. These buttons are worth some mention alone, by the way. They have double beveled edges (above and below) and the gold fillagree ornamentation in the center is this lovely rendering of a curling, leafy branch. A bit of detail to delight at each wearing. When you're curled up on a comfy sofa with your bedtime reading and your Godiva chocolate truffles, you'll know that detail is there. Well, it's hard to say no to this robe (I wouldn't, if it fit me). It's the kind of velvet you want to keep bumping up against to feel. And that will probably come in handy, if you have a paramour you'd like to entice with whom you'd like to spend some quality, boudior time. There's a generously sized pocket at the right hip, a gentle curve at top and a squared-off, angular '40s bottom. Frankly, the interior is just as plush as the exterior. The robe is lined in a peach silk-rayon satin, and has thin, internal ties to cinch it around your waist. The back of the lapels are also lined in this peach, which is another nice, luxurious detail. Kudos to whomever designed this lovely. Deep, sensuous fuschia and light peach make a very, very seductive combination. The robe makes quite a statement.
Condition: Excellent
She's a beauty, but she has a few, minor flaws. There is some bruising here and there to the velvet, that might be able to get steamed out with a special "velvet board." Someone I know +might+ have one of these, so if you look back and find this portion of the description gone, you'll know I've been sucessful in de-bruising it. These bruises are visible, but they don't detract too much from the overall beauty of the robe, because the entire effect is so rich. The lining is in great condition. Very clean and strong. A couple of very faint spots here and there, but nothing obvious, nothing that jumps out unless you're looking for them. There's a slight bit of "floor dust" on the crease of the hem, but you probably won't be able to see that unless you're standing upside down. There are three, small mends, all near the hem. One is on the left front, at the bottom, and one is at the right side, again at the bottom. Lastly, there is a small mend near the left-front hem.
