Description: This incredible, incredible high-fashion, couture-quality opera coat is a masterpiece of the seamstress' art. It is reversible, but each side is sewn together in such meticulous detail that one side does not seem more "right" than the other.
Its palette is sophisticated and sumptuous: inky blue and gold metallic brocade set against the most brilliant, fiery, burnt orange silk velvet. The colors balance each other perfectly, and the crowning effect is vivid luxury.
The silk brocade is a dark, secret garden of the deepest blue, wildly overgrown with the most exotic flowers and leaves. The energetic folliage is dense and freely rendered and has a very slight Oriental flavor.
The collar has a loose, relaxed ruffle, and the oversized cuffs of the sleeves bell out very slightly. It exudes a studied elegance, a sophisticated carelessness, and the willingness to be the center of attention at the drop of a hat. Incredible.
Condition: Mint
Mint. Absolutely mint. The brocade is strong and the velvet unworn and plush. This is one of those rare, truly rare vintage garments in which one gets to see what it was brand new. No fading, no odor, nothing but eternal youth.
