1924 circa Flowered Lame cape

Gallery Item -- Not for Sale

Origin: Likely French
Materials: gold lame, printed silk lame brocade
Bust: 42"
Waist: 42"
Hips: 42"
Length: 45"
Shoulder-to-Shoulder: 17"
Description: Breathtaking. This piece represents the highest glamor of the period. The tissue-thin lame allows for supple draping of the body, enhancing the female form rather than obscuring it. The jewel-toned flowers against a jet-black background recall a night-blooming Persian garden, and running throughout this garden is the rich glint of gold lame, in its own foliate pattern. Museum-quality piece.

Condition: Near Mint

Nothing really wrong. Strong, clean, supple, fresh. Lame has slight patina, and right front hem droops very slightly from weight of lame (if one wants to be picky). Astounding piece in astounding condition.
