Stolen Russian Icon Found in Trash Bin
Police got an anonymous call stating that one of the stolen objects from Russia's State Hermitage Museum could be found in a St. Petersburg trash can, near the police offices. Following the lead, the icon was found where it was stated it would be, with its frame but separated from it. The icon, refered to by some as Church of All Saints and by others as The Assembly of All Saints, was regarded as one of the most valuable of the stolen items. It depicts various saints and the Virgin Mary. Museum officials declined to state the age of the icon. Police stated that the icon was in good condition.
