Grey Gardens Sequel Debuts
Grey Gardens filmmaker Albert Maysles revisits his seminal 1975 documentary with a new, feature-length film The Beales of Grey Gardens Friday, July 21, at New York city's IFC Center. The Beales of Grey Gardens was made from unreleased footage from the original film, which profiles the moribund existance of a patrician mother and daughter, the Edith Bouvier Beales, aunt and first cousin to Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. The women grew up on the cusp of high society, but then became recluses and retreated to their rambling, decaying Long Island country home. The film will run at the IFC Center for three weekends.
