FIDM Exhibits Iconic TV Costumes
Los Angeles' Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising unveiled "The Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design," an exhibit that showcases the work television costume designers over the past 40 years. FIDM has for the past 14 years run a similar exhibit showcasing the work of Academy Award-winning costume designes, but this is the first time an exhibit has been presented showcasing the winners of prestigious television award. Included in the exhibit is the green-curtain-cum-Scarlett-O'Hara costume worn in the famous Gone With the Wind skit by Carol Burnett on the Caroll Burnett Show, over-the-top encrusted and bejewelled creations from Dynasty, costumes from the 1970s-era shows Battlestar Galactica and Wonder Woman. More recent shows like the late 1800s-era Deadwood are also represented.
