Bryn Mawr Announces Hepburn Center

Bryn Mawr alumnus and four-time Academy Award-winning actor Katharine Hepburn (class of 1928) and her mother, alumnus Katharine Houghton Hepburn (class of 1899), will be honored with a center named after them at their alma mater. The Katharine Houghton Hepburn Center will open its doors in September, its mission to honor the life and works of both women, and to award the annual Katharine Hepburn Medal to women whose "outstanding lifework and achievements embody the intelligence, independence and drive of Katharine Hepburn." The first recipients of the medal will be Lauren Bacall and Blythe Danner, who will receive their awards September 9, at the center's opening gala. Hepburn niece, playwright Katharine Houghton, will deliver the event's closing remarks.
